L&P Customer Power Restored


(Traverse City, Michigan) —Electric service to all Traverse City Light & Power(TCL&P) customers was restored as of 5:30 a.m. this morning. Intermittent electric service outages had occurred since Tuesday, October 26, due to high winds. The L&P system did not experience any catastrophic failure directly from the winds, but failures were caused by the closeness of trees to the lines and the subsequent contact or falling of limbs or trees into the lines. According to Light & Power, early tabulations indicate that, at the peak of the storm, approximately 3,300 L&P customers experienced an actual service interruption lasting from one to three hours.

 “We’re pleased with the responsiveness of our crews” said Jim Cooper, Manager of Communications and Energy Services. “They are diligent in maintaining the reliability of electric service to our customers.”
