TCL&P Promotes Arends to Executive Director


(Traverse City, Michigan) —The Traverse City Light & Power (TCL&P) Board approved promoting Tim Arends to the position of Executive Director at its regular meeting on May 14, 2013, effective immediately, and in so doing revoked its action of February 26, 2013 to conduct a national search for a permanent Executive Director.Arends has worked for the City of Traverse City since 1990, originally serving as the City’s Assistant Finance Director and Deputy Treasurer. He accepted the TCL&P Controller position in 2008 and has been serving as the utility’s Interim Executive Director since October 2012.

            “As the TCL&P Board Chair I have worked closely with Tim Arends in his capacity as Light and Power’s Interim Executive Director, and based on his performance during this period, I enthusiastically support his promotion to Executive Director,” said Patrick McGuire, TCL&P Board Chair. “I have become convinced that Tim possesses a unique set of qualities making him the right person to fill this position at this time.”
