Traverse City Light & Power (TCL&P) has partnered with the Traverse Area District Library (TADL) to offer customers and library patrons the Kill-A-Watt Power Meter program.
TCL&P customers and library patrons concerned with the amount of energy they are using will be able to borrow a power meter kit by placing a hold for pick-up through TADL’s online catalog or by stopping in to TADL's Woodmere (Main) Branch. Currently, the power meters can be borrowed from the library for up to four weeks.
The power meter measures energy consumption by the kilowatt-hour, the same unit of measurement that utilities use. It can estimate the electrical consumption and costs associated with each appliance by the hour, day, week, month or an entire year. Each kit will also include instructions on how to use the meter, what the information means and tips about energy consumption.
